Luckily we have better and better access to all kinds of anime series, although sometimes it can be difficult to know where to start or what to catch up with. Turning to those that have been most popular in recent years can always be a good starting guide … Of course, if we start talking about the best anime series to watch, we can never end, so for now we are going to focus only on those that were released from 2010 onwards.
And be careful, we are also going to abide by the rule that they can be seen legally streaming from Spain at the time of writing this article (although unfortunately some seasons of certain series have been left hanging in the middle of the distribution of licenses). So without winding up here and in no specific order, get ready!
Ok, we started with a trap because technically ‘One Piece’ has been on the air since 1999, but since then it hasn’t stopped. With over 1,000 episodes on the list, the series continues to release a new episode every week and dominate the most popular anime rankings every season. ‘One Piece’ follows Monkey D. Luffy, who wants to become King of the Pirates and his crew as they journey in search of the lost treasure known as One Piece.
With four seasons (and what’s left) behind him, ‘ Shinseki no Kyojin ‘ has become one of the most popular and addictive anime series in recent years. The plot follows Eren Jaeger, Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlert, who have always lived inside the walls. When the Titans break the barriers that protect their city, their lives change forever and they decide to enlist in the army to fight against these creatures… Although little by little they discover that the world is not as they have always believed.
Boku no Hero Academia’
The superhero anime par excellence of the moment. ’Boku no Hero Academia ‘ transports us to a world where the vast majority of the population has been born with some kind of special power. Izuku Midoriya dreams of being a great hero, even though he was born without any gifts… until he attracts the attention of his idol All Might and he is so impressed by his determination to be a hero that he offers to transfer his powers to him.
Kimetsu no Yaiba’
Kimetsu no Yaiba ‘ has quickly become one of the most popular series thanks to its flawless animation and dramatic plot. The story begins when Tangier Kamada returns home and discovers that his entire family has been killed and his sister Nezuko has been turned into a demon. From then on, Tanjiro embarks on a quest to find a cure for his sister while he becomes a demon hunter and hunts down the man who destroyed his family.
Jujutsu Kaisen’
‘Jujutsu Kaisen ‘ is based on the fact that the negative emotions of humans become Curses that populate the world and can cause great misfortune or even the death of their victims. When Yuji Itadori becomes the recipient of a very powerful curse, the only option he has to stay alive and learn to control the monster inside of him is to join the school of wizards.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
Even though the manga is a classic, ‘ JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure ‘ has not had an anime until relatively recently and its sixth part is currently on air. The plot begins in the 19th century with Jonathan Joestar, whose adoptive brother Dio Brando becomes a powerful vampire by awakening the power of a strange stone mask.
Yuri!!! On Ice’
Despite the series’ gorgeous animation taking a nosedive as it progressed, ‘Yuri!!! On Ice’ earned the love of fans for its wonderful characters, the tender romance that is created during the season, and the constant tension during sports competitions. The plot follows Yuri Katsuki, a figure skater who suffers a crushing defeat and is close to retiring until five-time world champion Viktor Nikiforov shows up at his house announcing that he wants to be his coach.
Dr. Stone
This post-apocalyptic anime transports us to a future where all of humanity has been turned to stone. ’Dr. Stone ‘ revolves around a young man named Taiju who wakes up one day surrounded by statues. He soon discovers that his friend De él Senku, who has always been very good at science, is also alive and has the plan to restore civilization and awaken all humans.
One-Punch Man
‘One-Punch Man’ is a hilarious series that turns the superhero genre upside down. Saitama is a very peculiar hero and has such a level of strength that he can destroy any opponent with a single punch. This situation has made his life boring until he meets a young cyborg named Genos who wants to become his disciple.

Tokyo Revengers’
This gangster thriller revolves around Takemichi Hanagaki, who finds out that his former high school girlfriend Hinata Tachibana, and her younger brother have been murdered by the Tokyo Manji street gang. When someone pushes her onto the station tracks just as the train passes, she closes her eyes to her impending death…but instead of dying she discovers that she has gone back 12 years in time.
Kuroko no basket
This sports anime follows the Teiko High School basketball team, who have won the championship three years in a row. Its five members are considered prodigies, although hardly anyone knows that there was another on the team known as the “ghost sixth player.” This was Tetsuya Kuroko, who now studies at Seirin High School, and together with his new classmate Taiga Kagami, they intend to take their new school to the top, even if it means facing their old teammates.
Little Witch Academia
The plot of this fantasy anime takes place in the Luna Nova Magical Academy, where its students learn magic. Atsuko Kagari comes from a family with no magical ties, but she is determined to become a full-fledged witch and follow the ideals of Shiny Chariot, the sorceress she most admires. During the series, we follow Akko and her friends De Ella Lotte and Sucy in their daily lives while they improve their magical abilities and get involved in all kinds of adventures.
Aggretsuko’
‘Aggretsuko’ is a slice of life based on Sanrio characters. This fun anime series centers on Retsuko, a red panda who works in an office and whose shy personality makes her less noticeable than others. But Retsuko has a secret: at night she takes refuge in karaoke and releases all her anger and frustration to the rhythm of heavy metal.
Psycho-Pass
This sci-fi police anime revolves around a special police department. Shortly, it is possible to predict the mental state and personality of each person, as well as the probability that they will commit a crime thanks to a scanner called Psycho-Pass. When this indicator judges that the probability of committing a crime is very high, the Enforcers and Police Inspectors are in charge of chasing and arresting potential criminals no matter what.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica’
This dark fantasy anime is a curious twist on the “magical girl” genre. The story begins when a girl named Madoka Kaname makes a deal with a cat-like creature. Kyubey promises to fulfill any wish Madoka wants, and in return, she will gain magical powers and must fight against witches. After her first adventure with another magical girl… Madoka realizes her lives are full of suffering.
Hunter x Hunter
Gon was left in the care of his aunt Mito on Whale Island when he was very young and always believed that he was an orphan, although thanks to his father’s apprentice he discovers that he is alive and is a great hunter. Gon decides to follow in his father’s footsteps and take the hunter’s exam so he can hunt for lost treasures and all kinds of exotic beasts
Mob Psycho 100
Shigeo Kageyama, also known as “Mob “, is a very normal and low-key high school student, although he has very powerful psychic powers. To prevent his abilities from becoming more dangerous and going haywire, Mob tries to live an emotionless life. Even though he suppresses his emotions, his powers continue to grow unchecked.
Kill la Kill’

The plot of this sports anime revolves around four friends who were on the elementary school swimming team: Haruka “Haru” Nanase, Makoto Tachibana, Nagisa Hazuki, and Rin Matsuoka. Five years after breaking up, Haruka has stopped swimming… But when Rin returns from Australia and starts competing with a rival high school, Haruka and her former classmates form a swimming club and slowly rediscover the joy of belonging to a team.
‘Boruto: Naruto Next Generations
‘Naruto ‘ continues to be unstoppable, and although the anime has already ended, the story continues to unfold in its sequel ‘Boruto: Naruto Next Generations’. The anime can perfectly serve as a starting point as it revolves around a new generation of Konoha ninjas. Boruto Uzumaki is the son of the Hokage and is part of a ninja team with Sarada Uchiha and Mitsuki, who are preparing for the Chunin exams.
Beastars’
‘Beastars’ is a profound reflection on racism and animal instinct by presenting us with a world populated by anthropomorphic animals where herbivores and carnivores coexist in apparent peace. One day, an alpaca is found murdered at Cherryton Academy and the situation causes even more tension among the students. In the midst of all this, a wolf named Legoshi begins to feel a strange attraction to Haru the rabbit.

Tokyo Ghoul’
This dark fantasy and horror series is set in Tokyo, where there are more and more deaths caused by beings that survive on human flesh. When young Ken Kaneki is brutally attacked by one of these Ghouls, he is nearly killed trying to escape. However, he is very badly injured and ends up receiving an organ transplant from precisely his attacker, for which he becomes a half-ghoul and half-human creature.
Violet Evergarden’
This dramatic anime is full of feelings and tragedy, but it is one of the most exciting series in recent years. Violet Evergarden is an automaton who has always served in the war, but now that the conflict is over she feels that her existence has no meaning. To find a new purpose in life, she begins working as an “Automatic Memories Doll” and can transcribe people’s thoughts and feelings into words through letters.
Banana Fish
Ash Lynx is a 17-year-old gang member who receives an address and the words Banana Fish from a man who has just been shot. Meanwhile, the young Eiji Okumura arrives in New York with Shunichi Ibe, a journalist who is investigating street gangs. Ash and Eiji soon meet and begin to investigate the true meaning behind the Banana Fish, as besides the dying man’s message they are also the only words Ash’s brother has spoken since he returned from Vietnam.
Devilman Crybaby’
This dramatic action series follows Akira Fundo, who discovers that a race of demons is trying to take over the world. His friend from him Ryō Asuka believes that the only way to deal with them is to steal their powers, so he suggests that Akira merge with one of these creatures. Thus, Akira transforms into a Devilman, with the abilities of a demon but the soul of a human.
The Ancient Magus’s Bride’
This dark fantasy anime with a hint of romance centers on Chise Hatori, who has had a very traumatic and miserable life and decides to sell herself in a mysterious auction. There she is introduced to the magician Elias Ainsworth, who buys her to become her apprentice and future wife because she has realized her incredible potential for her magic.
